Animal Abuse

January 04, 2016

Animals play a very crucial part in our life. Although we have entered in this atomic age and developed much but we cannot do without animals. They still remain essential for us. But, unfortunately, the animals are not well treated all over the world. The application of animals to test a large number of products from household compounds and cosmetics to Pharmaceutical has been considered to be a normal strategy for many years. Laboratory animals are generally used in three primary fields such as:-
  • Medical research
  • Product security evaluation
  • Education

It has been estimated that approximately 20 million animals are being used for testing and are killed annually. About 15 millions of them are used to test for medication and five millions for other products.

All over the world, animals are utilized to test products ranging shampoo to new cancer drugs. Each and every medicine of humans is first tested on animals. In such experiments and research, the animals are deprived of basic needs such as fresh air, natural foods, sunlight, trees, freedom and companionship. They are forced to live out the remainders of their lives in unnatural and inhumane conditions in metal cages at a research facility and the fact is that the results attained from experiment on animal testing do not accurately portray their influence on humans. The reaction of animals to a drug is quite different than that of a human being.
For an instance:

  • Parsley is considered to be a deadly poison for parrot yet we use in our food.
  • Arsenic, a poison for humans but is not harmful to sheep.
  • Sheep, goats, horses and mice can also eat hemlock in numbers, while this is toxic to humans.
  • Lemon juice is toxic to cats.

The animals have the right to live their own life peacefully and not allowed to meddle with them just because we can. The animals are prisoners for no reason than because they haven't a voice that humans can hear. The animals of all species have feelings and like children rely on us in most cases to keep them safe. Are we letting them down? They also can't defend themselves when they are drugged and poisoned. It is cruelty towards poor creatures. Put yourself in their position. If they could hang themselves, I bet they would...
